I should have a new website in the next month or so. I'm going to use my new found Photoshop skills and create an awesome website that will house some little programs I've written along with my resume. So when I go apply for jobs they can see I've only been a programmer for about a year, but they can go to my site and see all the awesome stuff I can do. I copied a nice layout from the tutorial, but I'm going to sit down and design an original layout for my new site. I'm pretty excited.
Stay classy, San Diego.

Movie Review Monday - Harry Potter Edition!
Well, I've seen it. What do I think of it? That's a complicated question. Well when compared to the book upon which it is based I'd have to say it was the most horrible, wretched piece of crap ever committed to film. Why? It had a bit of everything and explained almost nothing. I knew it would be like this. It seemed to be a two and a half hour advertisement for the book. You want depth of story and a bit more suspense and characterization? Then read the book. But if you want to see bits and pieces of the book come to life, then see the movie. In this way, I liked it a lot. The visual artistry shown in this movie is stunning. It really showed me what I've seen only in my imagination. So I liked it for it's visualization of an awesome book, but hated it for the story. For instance, what was the deal with the reporter, Rita Skeeter? She was in it for like 30 seconds total. If they're not going to include her whole story line, she really doesn't contribute anything. I guess I'll know what she's for when I see her action figure. And Dobby gave Harry the gillyweed, not Neville. Oh I get it, they're lazy and don't want to animate him again. And Moody was a real friend to Harry. Harry trusted him and liked him a lot. When he turns out to be Crouch Jr., that's a real shock to Harry. In the movie, it's like, "Oh, look. That's not the real Moody. Oh well. No big deal."
Anyway, I'm just full of gripes because of the stuff they cut out and the unnecessary stuff they left in. I did like the movie though. I guess you had to be there.
Yeah, don't try to act like you didn't already know I was weird like that.

Back... by popular demand!
Well, it's been quite a while hasn't it? I thought none of my friends read this anymore! Plus, I think I ran out of things to write about. And then there's wedding plans and spending time with my beautiful fiancee. Thanks for your kind words Jeb. I hope I can live up to them and be a great husband. I know she'll make a wonderful, amazing wife.Oh, and I think I forgot to pay my dues to the "We Hate Jeb Club" for this month. :)
Ok, so since Jeb is commenting and reading (which I appreciate!), and Clayton asked me why I haven't updated, and a mysterious character named "Daisy" (who must be extremely gorgeous, judging by her name) has visited recently, I suppose I'll get back to things around here. I think I'll review Harry Potter later on today. And if any of you have any suggestions about what I could write about and spread my views on, feel free to drop me an email.
So, in the meantime, feel free to be jealous of my mad photoshop skillz featured to the top right.

Erik's Favorite Webcomics: Part 2
Now this comic may be featured in part 2, but it's number 1 in our little gamer hearts. Penny Arcade is (in my humble opinion) the greatest webcomic dealing with gaming and gaming-related issues EVER. Did you see that? I hope so because I put it in all caps. Shall I try italics? EVER. I laughed so hard when I took a couple afternoons and read through all of the past comics. Ahh, the memories of gaming milestones such as the launch of the Dreamcast or PS2, hours wasted in SWG or WoW, and the frustrations of uncooperative hardware. Relive them all at Penny Arcade.I used to enjoy reading it every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, until someone at my work realized they weren't enforcing the policy in the handbook that says "We must do all we can to discourage, even crush, all of our employees' fun little diversions. This will lead to decreased morale and cement our stranglehold upon every aspect of their lives. Their insignificant lives. MUHAHAHA!" So now the web filter blocks me from visiting one of my favorite web comics.

Erik's Favorite Webcomics: Part I
I absolutely love quirky, clever humor and Toothpaste for Dinner is exactly that. This comic is so darn hilarious to me. Some people read it and go "What?!?" But it's comics like this one that make me laugh all day. Especially since I've had this experience on more than one occasion. In fact, it happened this morning. Anyway, so I say- check it out! There's a new drawing everyday which is sweet. Most other webcomics are a three times a week thing. And if Drew reads this, don't sue me! I'll take your drawing down if you want, just tell me. :) Toothpaste for Dinner P.S. When I started this blog, I envisioned the things I was going to write. I sounded much more eloquent and thought provoking in my head. I just realized I'm not so much. But bear with me, I promise I'll get better. :)

Yeah, I read them... so what?
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comes out this Friday! I know there is no possible way that they could do this book justice and as a result, it will end up being a two hour long advertisement for the book that skips much of the subplots and goes at the pace of... something that goes fast. Really fast.Even though I'm complaining about it, you know I'm going to see it anyway. I have to. It's part of the code of nerdiness. It's like how I know Star Wars Episode 3 was horrible. Soooooooo horrible. But did I buy the DVD? Yes. Episodes 1 and 2 were just as bad and I own them. Why? Because I'm a nerd and that's what we do.

Yes it's true.
I know most of you were shocked when you heard the news. If you heard the news that is. If you haven't heard then allow me to tell you- I am engaged to the most wonderful woman EVER! Her name is Erica (is that just perfect or what? -Erik and Erica!) and I can hardly believe how incredible she is. I love her so much! I know that eternity will be amazing with her!
Up on top of the page just below the blog title is a javascript countdown clock for the big event. :) (Yes, I'm a nerd, but you knew that.) It may look like a lot of time now, but I'm sure it will go quick! So, we're in the midst of planning a wedding that is roughly 4 months out. Anyone have any suggestions or tips? They'd be much appreciated.

Genesis of a blog.
Here it is! My piece of the 'net. Here is where I'll post my thoughts and feelings on a wide variety of topics including (but not limited to) religion, (I'm LDS by the way, or Mormon if you prefer) movies, sports, television, literature or you know, whatever. I need a blog mainly because my rants and raves are far too precious and MUST be shared with the world at large.
Hmm, so now that I've got this here, I'm not too sure what to write.
I'm sure I'll think of something.
